Converting a one-bedroom house into a two-bedroom house with a new loft conversion Thrive Homes
Major void refurbishment including two storey extension
Zekon and PiLON successfully secured this pilot project with Thrive Homes to deliver an initial batch of 4 properties with the opportunity to develop a further 26 units in Oxhey, Hertfordshire. The works comprise converting a one-bedroom house into a two-bedroom house with a new loft conversion. The wider scope includes, new kitchen and bathrooms, demolition of internal walls/roof, rebuilding all internal walls (wood frame / insulated cavity), installing metal beams, new gas meter/combi boiler and central heating system. Rendering and cladding (reused from the original roof tiles).
The project took 1 year to complete and our worked included: extension, flooring, plumbing, electrical, groundwork, general building work, cladding.
We have 9 weeks to complete the works on all 4 units and are working alongside 8 multi-trade operatives and specialist operatives on electrical, plumbing, heating and windows and door packages. Under Site Manager Bogdan Butnariu, the project has had zero RIDDOR accidents and has scored highly on internal H&S audits (87%) and safety tours.
Upon completion of these first phase works and their trial being a success the three units will provide the foundation for further development of similar properties. PiLON look forward to completing the conversions and the opportunity to build our relationship with Thrive Homes on this project, bringing the total number of Butterfly Bungalows in Oxhey to 30 units.
